Dr Platon Cold Atmospheric Plasma is an advanced, non-invasive treatment designed to support skin restoration, calm problematic skin and improve overall skin health.
At Primelase Berkshire, we use Dr Platon either as part of a comprehensive professional facial or as a shorter standalone targeted treatment for specific skin concerns. This allows us to tailor the treatment to your individual skin rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Dr Platon is particularly beneficial for adult acne, congested and oily skin, inflammation, redness and problematic skin, while also providing benefits for pigmentation, skin regeneration and ageing skin.
The treatment is quick and comfortable, with no significant downtime.
Plasma is often described as the fourth state of matter.
Dr Platon uses cold, non-thermal atmospheric plasma technology, sometimes referred to as a plasma shower. As the ceramic treatment tip passes approximately 1mm above the skin, the technology transforms gases naturally present in the surrounding air, primarily oxygen and nitrogen, into cold plasma.
Unlike traditional thermal plasma treatments that deliberately create heat and controlled injury within the skin, Dr Platon is non-thermal. There is no intentional burning or removal of skin tissue.
Cold plasma is used to support the skin’s natural healing processes, reduce inflammation, support epidermal regeneration and improve the overall condition of problematic or compromised skin.
Because the treatment is gentle and non-invasive, it can also be incorporated alongside other carefully selected professional treatments as part of a personalised skin programme.

Our complete Dr Platon Cold Plasma Facial combines cold atmospheric plasma with carefully selected professional skincare and technologies to provide a comprehensive treatment tailored to the condition of your skin.
Double Cleanse
We begin with a thorough double cleanse to remove make-up, excess oil and impurities from the skin.
CLINICCARE Instant Painless Peel
A gentle enzymatic exfoliation helps remove superficial dead skin cells, unclog the skin and prepare it for treatment.
Diamond Microdermabrasion – where appropriate
For suitable skin, Diamond Microdermabrasion may be incorporated to provide additional controlled exfoliation. This stage is always adapted to the condition of your skin and will be omitted where it is not appropriate, particularly for sensitive or significantly inflamed skin.
Dr Platon Cold Plasma Shower
The ceramic applicator is passed just above the surface of the skin, creating the cold atmospheric plasma shower. The plasma application itself usually takes approximately 10 minutes.
Dermalux LED Light Therapy
The facial is completed with professional Dermalux LED Light Therapy, selected according to the needs of your skin, providing a relaxing finish to your treatment.

This option is particularly useful when we want to concentrate on a specific skin concern or maintain progress during or following a treatment programme without performing the complete one-hour facial.
It provides a quick and convenient way of incorporating cold atmospheric plasma into your ongoing professional skincare plan.
Dr Platon is designed to be a comfortable, non-invasive treatment.
The ceramic applicator floats just above the surface of the skin rather than intentionally damaging or ablating it. You may notice some sensation while the plasma is being applied, but the treatment does not rely on significant heat or intentional burning of the skin.
There is no significant downtime, making it a convenient treatment for clients with busy lifestyles.
Dr Platon can be enjoyed as an individual facial; however, when we are working on a persistent skin concern, a course will usually provide the best approach.
For optimal results, we generally recommend:
A course of 6–8 treatments, usually performed weekly.
The exact number of sessions will depend on your skin condition, the concern being addressed and how your skin responds throughout the course.
Problematic and acne-prone skin may require regular treatment initially, followed by less frequent maintenance once the skin has improved.
Our 30-minute Dr Platon Top-Up Treatment can also be incorporated into your programme where appropriate.
Results vary depending on the condition being treated and your individual skin response.
Following treatment, many clients notice that their skin feels fresh, calm and revitalised. When Dr Platon is used as part of a course, the aim is progressive improvement in overall skin condition rather than an aggressive overnight transformation.
For problematic skin, our focus is on creating a healthier-looking, calmer and more balanced complexion while supporting the skin’s natural regeneration.
Your progress will be reviewed throughout your treatment programme so that treatments can be adjusted according to the changing needs of your skin.
Although there is no significant downtime, the skin can remain particularly receptive following cold plasma treatment, so appropriate aftercare is important.
For the first 12 hours after treatment:
Please avoid laser hair removal, waxing, electrolysis, facial bleaching and depilatory creams on the treated area for at least 72 hours.
Daily broad-spectrum sun protection of at least SPF 30 is strongly recommended following treatment and throughout your course.
Although Dr Platon is non-invasive, it is not suitable for everyone.
A consultation and review of your medical and aesthetic history allows us to identify any contraindications and determine whether treatment is appropriate.
Treatment may not be suitable in circumstances including certain implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers, epilepsy, unstable heart conditions, some immune or active chronic conditions, active herpes, acute illness or fever, and certain medications.
Recent use of steroids, retinol, AHAs and some aesthetic procedures may also mean that your treatment needs to be postponed.
